Clinical utilisation review tool Licensed by Lancashire Care NHS Foundation trust
8th of October – Oak Group International today announced Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust (LCFT) as the newest UK client to license the Oak Group’s MCAP clinical utilisation review tool, specifically, the mental health criteria with the medical surgical criteria to follow for their community beds. Lancashire Care Foundation Trust provide health and wellbeing services for a population of around 1.5 million people. The Trust specialises in inpatient and community mental health services providing outpatient services to 5000 patients.
LCFT’s decision to license the Oak Group’s MCAP Clinical Utilisation Review tool came as a result of a mental health diagnostic audit of both in and outpatients, delivered in 2014. The results identified opportunities for whole system patient flow improvement and provided decision makers with the necessary evidence to select the MCAP tool – designed to provide advanced patient flow analytics in real-time to support improvements in timely discharge and system integration.
“We are delighted to add Lancashire Care to our growing client community and look forward to the work ahead of us. We are particularly excited that they will be using our Mental Health criteria as we have the most comprehensive UK based criteria on the market with 48 criteria sets covering over 10 levels of care that represent all levels of inpatient and outpatient mental health care that are provided in the UK.” Dr David Maltz, CMO, The Oak Group
“The MCAP tool is an intelligent and innovative way to help us assess whether our patients are being cared for in the appropriate environment in order to reduce inappropriate admissions to hospital and reduce unnecessary lengths of stay. The tool is helping to improve the flow of patients through the system and freeing up staff time which is better spent at the point of care.”- Sue Moore, Chief Operating Officer at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust.
