27th November 2015 – Oak Group International today announced Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) has licensed the Oak Group’s Making Care Appropriate for Patients (MCAP) Clinical Utilisation Review (CUR) tool for deployment across all their beds, as an integrated provider delivering both acute and community care the licence covers up to 800 beds. BHT provide specialist services including their internationally recognised Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and regional centre for burns, plastic surgery and dermatology. BHT has successfully agreed a National Clinical Utilisation Review (CUR) CQUIN with NHS England for the implementation and benefit realisation from the use of CUR.

BHT’s focus is on providing right care, right place, right time, first time and everything is aimed at delivering high quality care when it’s needed. MCAP will assist this process with improved patient flow, enhance quality and ensuring patients are treated in the most appropriate clinical settings, freeing up staff time and hospital resources. The MCAP tool identifies opportunities for whole system patient flow improvement and will provide decision makers with the necessary evidence to provide advanced patient flow analytics in real-time to support improvements in MDT discharge and system integration.

“This is an exciting time for clinical utilisation review development across all levels of care in the UK and for the Oak Group having ranked 1st based on combined quality & value scores on the NHS England CUR framework. We welcome BTH to our fast growing client community and look forward to working with them to share best clinical utilisation review practice.” said Alistair Frost, CEO, The Oak Group.

“We are pleased to be working alongside the Oak Group to implement the Clinical Utilisation Review System across our Trust. We aim to have evidence based decision making and a clear understanding of our bed use and capacity to help us deliver patient care effectively and safely, and are looking forward to working with the Oak Group to realise these benefits for our patients” Molly Kavanagh, Service Manager, Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
